Hypnosis is a normal and natural state of awareness and relaxed
focus. Brain wave patterns slow from “Beta”, the waking
state, to “Alpha”, a receptive, open and suggestible
state of mind. Because hypnosis provides direct access to the subconscious,
it is possible to make intentional, positive changes that are much
more difficult when the critical factor of the conscious mind is
involved. Subconscious suggestions through symbolism and imagery
help us embrace new concepts that guide behaviors from a deep, authentic
level. At all times you are in control while creating powerful, lasting
change.
During your private session you will remain completely aware. The
conscious mind is present but resting and the subconscious mild is
accessible. It is similar to immersion in a novel or film to the
extent that you may not notice someone entering the room. You may
experience deep relaxation, a sense of warmth, or even a pleasant
tingling throughout the body. All therapy is conducted in complete
confidentiality and adheres to the ethical Guidelines of the American
Counseling Association.
Hypnosis assists in focusing and clearing the mind, allowing you
to creatively participate in the design of new, life supporting patterns.
A simple practice of mental quieting with the incorporation of imagery
has been shown to affect the reduction of stress hormones, decrease
heart rate and blood pressure, increase blood flow to the extremities
and improve muscular relaxation. These changes help move the body
toward a sense of balance that is especially important in our chronically
stressed modern times.
Concerns that can be addressed with hypnosis include:
- Management of weight, stress, pain
- Cessation of smoking, insomnia
- Motivation to change habits
- Creation of desired goals, changes, states of well-being
- Focus and clear the mind for specific events and medical procedures.
