Energy Work

What is energy work?

The human energy field has been referred to cross culturally as prana, chi, electromagnetic field, biofield, or aura. Every living thing is a literal dance of electrochemical processes. We are not merely physical form, but energetic bodies as well. Over the past 100 years scientists have begun to be able to measure changes in our energetic field and correlate these changes to states of health/disease. Science is confirming what many healers have been claiming, that our physical health has a relationship to the health of our energetic field. Furthermore, contemporary studies are showing that intentions, thought forms, spiritual practices and energetic practices can and do animate the energetic body effectively, creating a context for improved physical health. Energy work is therapeutic work with the body’s inherent energy system. Energy work can be done for oneself or in a healing partnership with a practitioner.

Awareness of how we manage our personal energy is crucial to the maintenance of good health. My goal is to share techniques with each individual for the assessment and management their own energetic systems. These exercises enhance personal awareness of energy balance and provide a method for replenishment and revitalization.

Therapeutic Touch is a form of energy work developed by Delores Krieger PhD, RN author of The Therapeutic Touch, How to Use Your Hands to Help or Heal. She describes TT as a conscious act of therapeutic intervention concerned with direction and modulation of subtle energies. It is a technique anyone can learn and is a component of the Cindy’s group classes.

Reiki is also a form of therapeutic energy work. Cindy has studied the Usui Shiki Ryoho, the Usui system of natural healing. This work originated in Japan through the work of Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki uses energy balancing to support the body’s natural ability to heal.

Acupressure involves using pressure applied along energy meridians of the body to balance either excess or deficient energetic flows. Cindy is a Jin Shin Do practitioner and also utilizes Touch for Health.
